Instead of affordability, I think we should see the parity between renting and cost of ownership instead of seeing affordability. If you can rent the same/similar place for significantly cheaper price, rent it. That would be a wise financial decision.
If I have a million dollars in cash, I can afford a 600K house in my area but why should I if I know the house does not deserve to be 600K and most likely it will come down in price? Just because you can afford does not mean you should throw away money.

You are right. But many people came here at the middle of their carrier and they are struck here with their children education etc., They are bound to be here and there is no way. Further, in my country, there are still reservation policies in everything, which may prevent the kids in going in for the education line they like. I donot want to explain this more as I may be degrading my own mother country. In a nutshell, everyone who wish to be a citizen of this country will have lot of valid reasons for getting a citizenship in this country.

I am not sure on address.. For Child - I dont think you can add the name to your passport unless you plan not to have a separate passport for the child..

Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

Not to say in the future there won't be a law that will make us ineligible.

How can we confirm the spillover interpretation. I am not familiar with the spillover rules but my understanding was that only if there in an excess in EB2 then the spillover gets down to EB3. Am I wrong or as per rules should spillover be distribued equally? If it has to be distributed equally then we need to do a mass mail or something and ask USCIS to explain. Even if 50 of us send letters to USCIS ther mihgt be some action.

Audit from Atlanta DOL increased in the last quarter of 2007 because they are working on several other things, but after Oct 07, they haven't cleared several audit cases.

there was a rencent drive undertaken by IV which involved getting a list from USCIS (or some other authority) about where the visa #s are being used, right ?
Perhaps something to do with collecting money from the requstor..
Basically, USCIS sent letters to a few folks asking them to pay 5000$ or so to get the list as it involved some programming ?
Where is that ? does anyone know ?

Even if one of the following items could be achieved, it will get us out of this mess. None of this increase any Green Card numbrs, even recapturing of unused Visa faced a stiff opposition last year, as they kept saying, you may call it visa recapture or whatever but for us it is giving 0.5 million new green Cards.

I applied my wife's passport for extension. She has 6 more months on that one. I got the renewal exactly after 3 weeks from CGI-Houston. But the problem is, they gave only 1yr extension. In effect, I got only 6 months extension. I'm glad, atleast they sent it because we already booked the ticket to India in May. I'm not sure why they've given like that. Anyone has any ideas on that one?
The h4 or h1(whichever visa she is on)visa in your wife's passport would have expired and the I-797 approval notice must have less than one year from now. Heres the note from NY consulate website
"Important Note: In certain cases of an old passports issued by an office other than the Consulate General of New York, a passport is issued for one year. In such cases, applicants have to apply for extension of the passport any time after 45 days. A passport is also issued for one year in cases of expiry of valid U.S. residence visa. In such cases, applicants have to apply for extension of validity as soon as valid U.S. Residence visa is approved. There is no fee for extension of validity of passport."

easy dude..this poll was just to see how many people in IV from 2002 PD for eb3 India. Its just for that purpose and nothing else. I know EB3 is a dead meat for India..I am with you on that..But dont beat your life for it..relax.
Honestly I don't even see a point for these discussions, polls or predictions for EB3-I. The sooner we accept we are doomed the better. The only way out is to help ourselves but I don't think many EB3's are willing to do that.
I spoke to several in my office with earlier EB3 PD's (who might not even get GC's in the next 5-10 years !) and of course with EAD's and they have literally substituted EAD for a GC. They were once a part of IV (and some similar org's ?!) but now have completely lost hope and don't care. I tried to motivate them to join IV and support but they feel that IV does not cater to EB3's anymore. Sadly they are not even trying to port to EB2. They are just content with a job and EAD.
So, I am not really sure how many of us are actually willing to fight ?!

Someone from the immigrant community should have a seat a the board level in USCIS. We are the primary stake holders in this system, yet we have to resort to public demonstrations to get a point across to them. Is it me or is there something wrong in this??
AILA represents their interests and they get regular meetings. Often ours are the same. Sometimes not.
I'm sure the business community goes golfing with them on weekends.
