Can somebody pls confirm that we can get 3 yr H1 extensions if we file our 485 applications and also any source if you can.
Do not mind but I think this would be a critical ice breaker for lot us to make a decision of to file or not to file

H1 was approved some time last year and H1B started from 10/1/2006.
Can employee start working without SSN? My wife received H1 approval around Oct 2006 and we applied for SSN in Nov 2006. We received it by end of Feb 2007. From March 07 we got pay stubs.
People who switched from F2/H4 to H1 can consider their SSN application time as valid status. Right?

Dude, these are not stocks where resistance and support play parts, it is USCIS/DoS. All they offer: resistance from with-in with no support to its customers. I am surprised you are still trying to find a pattern/curve. At best, it can be represented by a squiggly line my nephew draws..

Yes, I am also in the same boat. Filed my 9th year extension in March, responded RFE during 1st week of August. Mine will be expiring in 3 more days. Hoping to get the extension soon.

applied it on Jun 20 2007 (this month)
any way i can get some copy of the receipt to file 485?

Guys,
I am also close to situation 3.a but I changed my GC sponsered employer and working for other good and stable company using AC21.
I would like to start a company and do a side business.
What you recommend - registering it on my is good idea or on spouse's name?
If I register it on my name and generate a profit - is it going to impact my 485 as I already invokded AC21? (again I will be working in simialr job as a FT)
Any sugessions would be great help.

If you are on 3a, you have neither used AC21 nor have you left your full time job (FT job that aligns with your LC). On EAD, you can do any number of jobs (ex: you can even work 2 part time jobs totally unrelated to your LC requirements ofcourse as long as you continue to be with your GC employer). Using this rationale, you should be fine starting a business and making profit in the part time.
In fact even those who were in 3 b were able to get their GC after an interview (Search for posts by the user "unitednations"). But, it's risky and best avoided.
Personally, I want to get into 3 a, but my 140 is still pending. I plan to approach my company to switch me to EAD as soon as my 140 gets approved.

We also need more active members in Miami as it is a huge city. Would you like to take up the responsibility to post the flyers in Chinese/Indian/Philipino stores or other places where people from these or other immigrant community gathers? Or maybe simply send out emails to send the same message to your friends. It is ok if there is any constraint.

It may sound crazy, 2nd biometrics may not be good sign when dates are current. I had my 2nd FP in June09. I spoke with IO out of curiousity to know of any update- more so to know whether my case is pre-adjudicated (as there was lot of roar on recent preadjudication). IO told me my 'NC is pending'. I told her that around this time, last year, I was repeated told on infopass and on phone that my NC/BC etc is cleared and case waiting for Visa#. She that that is true but 2ND FP TRIGGERs NC and unless they get clearance they have to wait for 180 days before my case is ready for adjudication.
Is that how it works? I was under the impression if the name check is cleared once (or rotten after 6 months) we are good. Hoping that IO gave you a wrong information.
Anybody know more about this. :confused:

I am from India and I have worked in the USA for the last 6 years. I have immigrated to Canada with a Job 6 months back to avoid overystaying. My experience in Canada is very bad. I am a MCAD and Sun Certifitied Developer having more than 8 years experience. I am looking for a job for more than 3 months in Canada and still not able to get a job. There is lots of racism here and people are not polite. I have been regularly applying for .NET jobs and the response is very bad. Maybe because I am from India. Try avoiding Canada as much as you can.
Which part of Canada are you talking about ? you may be right about the difficulty in finding jobs, but the "politeness" and "racism" part I just dont understand. From my experience of canada (BC and ontario) I can say on the whole people there were much more polite and helpful than anywhere in the US. As for racism, it exists in every country - even in the US, especially in rural areas of the south.

No you don't. You can file without 140 receipt, atleast that's what my lawyer told me. Anyways, mine is concurrent filing.
